The beauty of this movie is shocking. Each scene has a such a perfection in composition and colors and a very distinguished style. Again Kanye dared what he likes and is not scared of showing something new. I fell in love with it complitely.

Sunflower Seeds

Where I was born, in the romanian city of Craiova, I remember everyone eating sunflower seeds in front of their doorstep and then spitting the shells on the floor in a manner I was never able to do myself, and leaving them all over the city! Still now, when I walk around and I see sunflower leftovers on the streets, I know a romanian was there!
So when I first saw the new exhibition at the Turbine Hall in London, thats where my thoughts went...I suppose to each one of us, according to our background and stories, images mean different things!
So the conceptual chinese artist Ai Weiwei in his installation of millions of hand-made sunflower seeds shows the work of a hundred skilled workers from the Chinese city of Jingdezhen employed to hand craft and paint the millions of tiny porcelain objects that make up Sunflower Seeds.
The work is presenting the contradiction between the casual way visitors walk on the ‘seeds’ compared with the time and effort put into making them!
The exhibition will be on at Tate Modern until 2 May, 2011.

Ando&Eliasson

Japanese architect Tadao Ando was asked by friend and gallerist Takeo Obayashi to create a unique combination guesthouse and gallery space in collaboration with artist Olafur Eliasson. The exterior of the Tokyo space is clad in laminated glass panes that reflect light. Inside, platinum-glazed tiles created by the artist frame a courtyard that separates a bar and dining room.

Damien Hirst @ Oceanographic Museum of Monaco

I was just skyping with my parents in Italy and they were telling me about their experience at the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco where Damien Hirst latest exhibition is taking place.
It seems to me the perfect location for some of Hirst works since they fit so perfectly in the Ocenografic enviroment that people could even ignore the fact that its art pieces!
Wich I find quite ironic and also of course his approach goes along with the Museum’s scientific approach...a reflection on life and its preservation..too bad his not so good in preserving his sharks!
I'd love to go check it out

Infernopolis

An old submarine wharf in the port of Rotterdam has been turned into an exhibition space where artist Van Lieshout produced the spectacular exhibition called Infernopolis. In the 5000m2 space he has created a terrifying setting in which skulls, skeletons, giant sperm cells and body organs are the main elements. I was reading one of his interview where he was saying:' I think it's time for a new terrible tragic event, like a war or revolution." The curator of the exhibiotion describes the latest installation of the artist, 'craddle to craddle', as our position as human beings in eternity; 'we are no more than what we consume and emit'. I find his work a mix of bizarre/distrubing and functional.

Maurizio Cattelan @ Museum Boymans van Beuningen

At Museum Boymans van Beuningen in Rotterdam I was surpized to see Cattelan's figure coming out of a hole in the floor into the classics gallery . He looks in a sharp way at a painting of the 19th century master Koekoek and the obvious solemn authority of the Old Art is ironised in a subtle way.
This is the most expensive work of the living artist, worth 7,92 million dollars. The work was showed for the first time in 2001.

Olafur Eliasson @ Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam

The big success of Notion motion, 2005 is showed again at the Boijmans Van Beuningen museum in Rotterdam I went to see the other day. Notion motion by Olafur Eliasson consists of three parts that interact between water, light and the viewer. Eliasson as always has created an enchanting work where the viewer immerse himself in a simple and minimal yet overwhelming visual experience created by the interplay of light and water.

At last PechaKucha night in Tokyo artist Ariel Schlesigner presented a collection of photographs documenting what he calls “minor urban disasters.” The photos were taken in different cities around the world, and show off what can happen when reality goes wrong for an instant.

Feelings are Facts

The Ullens Center for Contemporary Art (UCCA) in Beijing presents the exhibition "Feelings are Facts". It is the first collaboration between Olafur Eliasson, my favourite artist in the world, and Ma Yansong, one of the most prolific Chinese architects. Together they've created an installation specially for the of UCCA’s Big Hall, uniting architecture, light and fog.
Their work invites the audience to enter an endless space of fog, with fluorescent tubes of red, green and blue; by moving through the space, the colors blend, and so the viewers create their own color spectrums.

David DiMichele

Just discovered photography work by Los Angeles based artist David DiMichele.
He builds all these fantastic environments in his studio and then he photographs them! So they are not real scale, but in the photos they look it!! What he does is making a statement about how audiences see and experience monumental art....still... I just wish these installations were real life.

Centre Pompidou of the South

The Centre Pompidou-Metz opened this month and it is entirely independent in its cultural choices.
Inside the building, the space is flooded with day light and the atmosphere is enhanced by a pale wood roof, white-painted walls and floors in pearl-grey polished concrete.

PostFossil @ 21_21 Design Sight

Today I went to see Post Fossil exhibition at the 21_21 Gallery in Midtown, tokyo and I belive is one of the best sights I've ever seen an exhibition in. The building was designed by architect Tadao Ando, whose brief was to design a structure that would represent Japan...

Ujino

Japanese artist Ujino creates these stunning Rotators automotive gears that are something in between sculpture and musical instruments. They are designed to be the unit of instruments in a rhythm section for automatic playing. The basic idea comes from Futurism Art, Dada, Pop-Art, and Noise-Industrial...it's then transformed in a really unique way by the artist.
